Build your very own snowy, country Christmas birdhouse with our 2 hour masterclass. Under the friendly eye of our expert tutor, you will learn how to seamlessly assemble the spiced gingerbread house structure and bring two little robins to life with royal icing. You will finish your masterpiece with a little bird perch, a flurry of snow and some festive sugar foliage. 

In this masterclass, you will learn:

  • How to assemble a gingerbread house (with ‘invisible’ joins and bird perch)

  • Steps to decorate a robin gingerbread biscuit

  • How to use moulds to create decorations

  • How to pipe snowy royal icing

  • Tips and tricks on how best to arrange decorations

  • Full recipe and instructions for baking and embossing gingerbread shapes and mixing royal icing

You will take home:

  • A beautiful snowy gingerbread birdhouse that you will have decorated yourself

  • An understanding of how to bake and assemble gingerbread structures

  • Piping skills used for decorating biscuits

  • Recipe and technique notes to help you recreate your masterpiece again and again

What you need to bring:

We will provide you with all the materials and tools for you to use during the class. You will either need to bring an apron with you or there will be a chance to purchase one of our beautiful Huffkins aprons before the class begins.

Light refreshments, including tea, coffee and snacks from our tearooms, will be served throughout the class.

Boxes suitable for transporting your creation will be provided, however we advise that you might like to bring your own flat bottomed bag.

Due to health and safety regulations, students are required to tie long hair back at all times. 

When to arrive:

Our tutor will be ready to welcome you 15 minutes before the scheduled start of the class. If you arrive earlier you are welcome to enjoy refreshments in our tearoom. Please make sure you leave sufficient time for parking and travel.

Due to the nature of the class, it is difficult for us to accommodate students who arrive late. We will do our best but it may not be possible for you to join the session if you are not ready to start on time. Please see our FAQ page for more detailed parking and travel information.

This is an adult class; the minimum age for students is 16 years old. Children’s classes can be found here.

Please note, this masterclass does not include any baking and will be taught through a combination of demonstrations and hands-on practise. Where required certain elements of the class may be prepared in advance.

Please make sure you check your dates carefully as we are unable to offer refunds on classes.

During checkout you will be able to input the unique code from your voucher and redeem it’s value against the cost of the class. If the value of your voucher does not cover the whole cost of the course you will simply need to pay the remainder.
